Tours, Classes and Workshops for Students

The Duldig Studio offers specialist tours of our nationally significant collection for students and learners of all ages. We offer unique object-based learning through introductory and interactive tours, classes and workshops in conjunction with the house museum, current exhibitions, sculpture garden and Artists’ Studio. All education programs are planned by experienced educators and presented by professional gallery staff and guides.

Connecting Through Clay tour & workshop
(Levels F-2 & 3-10)
View, reflect, and talk about art and artists followed by a practical clay workshop with a professional sculptor. The workshop can be delivered online, at your school or our Studio.
Fee $25 per student

Journeys & Change: Connecting Through Art
(All Year Levels)
Through the artists' house and sculpture garden, hear and see the journey of a young family escaping Europe at the start of the Second World War to their establishment of a creative and rewarding life in a new country. Suitable for all year levels, and English as a second language.
Fee $12 per student

VCE Art: Making and Exhibiting
The house museum and current exhibitions are excellent resources for VCE students to be inspired by and explore, discuss, and investigate further a diversity of:

      • art forms
      • influences and inspiration
      • materials
      • techniques
      • processes
      • aesthetic qualities
      • art elements and principles
      • visual language
      • ideas and meaning

Classes available online or at the Studio.
Learning resources provided pre or post session.

Exhibition planning and design  
Classes with experienced educators, curatorial team, collection manager and guides can be booked for information, viewing and discussion on planning the layout and design of the exhibition.

Conservation and care
Classes with experienced educators, curatorial team and collection manager can be booked for information, viewing and discussion on care and storage of the collection, preventative conservation practice and conservation case studies in painting, furniture and sculpture.

VCE Art: Creative Practice

Unit 1 Interpreting artworks and exploring the Creative Practice
Unit 3
Investigation, ideas, artworks and the Creative Practice
View the current exhibitions to focus on and investigate further the creative practice of contemporary print makers in response to the art, materials, techniques, processes and cultural context of two émigré artists living and working in Australia post World War 11.  Through discussion, analysis and interpretation students will gain deeper insights into the creative practice of contemporary and historical artists.

Unit 2 Investigation, ideas, artworks and the Creative Practice
Unit 4 Interpreting, resolving and presenting artworks and the Creative Practice
Through the house museum, artists’ studio and sculpture garden explore the cultural context, creative practice and art works of twentieth century émigré artists Karl Duldig and Slawa Horowitz Duldig. Through analysis and discussion, gain deeper understanding of how to apply the Interpretive Lenses when looking at historical art and consider the layers of meaning and  validity of diverse interpretations. Art works include sculptures, drawings, paintings and ceramics representing a range of materials, techniques and processes.

MADE: MUMA & Duldig Experience 
(VCE Art: Making and Exhibiting)
Encompassing visits to both a public museum (MUMA Monash University Museum of Art) and a house museum (Duldig Studio), this joint initiative provides exceptional comparative industry information on exhibition planning, design, conservation and display. 

MADE is a fully subsidized program for students and teachers of VCE Art: Making and Exhibiting.
